This is one of my favorite water softening valves to strip down and carry out maintenance on. The Clack WS1 commercial unit can be stripped down quite quickly. There is a special service repair tool that can assists you with the procedure, this makes things a lot easier for the service repair. I have had very few hard water problems occur with this type of valve. This particular softening installation system gave me some problems of intermittent hard and soft water, this can happen with a single simplex vessel. When water demand peak times happens at Cambridge University, which can be quite high at times, and this can exhaust the resin capacity of the softener. I would have installed a duplex softening model, this would have prevented this problem from happening

This is a very tight plant room where l have to maneuver my way over the salt tank to carry out the servicing maintenance repair work. The Fleck 9000 duplex softener range at one time these valves were the most common valves used in domestic and commercial applications, they also used to be very reliable, unfortunately, this is no longer the case. There have been several problems with the pistons, seals, and spacer kits which caused us, engineers a lot of headaches. With very little support from the manufacturers of the equipment. The Fleck SXT PCB board also had a lot of problems when it was first launched, it kept on giving error codes on the duplex softeners. We all know that these products need to be upgraded to be more efficient, but that is not always the case.

We were carrying out some service and maintenance repairs on this Kinetico 2030 Mach system. The service was for a small hotel in Cambridge. The Kinetico softening system had a bad leak on the resin vessel and a cracked upper distributor which had allowed the resin to come out of the resin tank, this caused a blockage in the hot water service pipes. We had to use a high-pressure delivery pump to force the resin out of the pipework. Once all of the pipes and tanks were free of resin media we installed a new softener, as it was not worth repairing the existing one. I am glad to say that the owner of the hotel would like us to carry out regular service and maintenance to their water treatment system so that they continue to have soft water with no hard water scale.

The well water borehole that supplies water to the facility has high levels of nitrates that need to be removed to comply with the water regulation guidelines. It is important to have the nitrate removal system serviced and check on a regular basis to make sure that the removal of the nitrates is working efficiently. There is also a 3 stage Ultraviolet system that protects the water supply from any nasty bacteria problems that might make the water unsafe to drink.

This Rainsoft Q2 soft water system has just been serviced in my workshop, there was a problem with the drive motor jammed in one of the regeneration cycles. When the main piston becomes jammed, it will sheer off the brass pin on the driveshaft, and if nothing is done about it, the motor will eventually become burnt out. Also as the piston is jammed in whatever part of the regeneration cycle when the problem occurred, water will continually be running to the drain until the problem is fixed

The customer's water softener was no longer producing soft water and had not used any salt for a long time. The valve head was stripped down and was given a full service, as it had not been regularly serviced for many years all seals & spacers were replaced with new brine valve and brine injectors. After completing all the repairs the resin was treated with a special resin cleaner to lift off all the hard water limescale ions that had formed within the resin vessel. The machine was now producing soft water once again and working correctly

Had a service call from a site engineer requiring a site visit in Hertfordshire. Their Kinetico 2030 Mach duplex water softener had sprung a leak. It had been leaking for a time, as the bracket was quite rusty. We replaced the leaking resin media tank with a new one, gave the valve a service. After testing the regeneration cycles and making sure that the water softener was producing soft water. A service repair sheet was given to the company with all the information regarding the water softeners.

We have just carried out the maintenance and repairs to this commercial water softening system. As you can see from the great big lumps of salt in the brine tanks, they have not been regenerating for some time. These water softeners were installed to stop limescale build-up in the hot and cold water services, unfortunately, this was not the case. This is another good reason to have regular servicing and maintenance repairs carried out every six to twelve months.

The commercial facility was using a lot of salt. When l check all the settings in the microprocessor, l found that the system had not been set up correctly in the first place. As this Permo 6000 model is a metered controlled simplex system, it was found that the meter was never connected to the microprocessor and had been left on a 1000 litre default setting. This water softener should have been set up to give 10 m3 between each regeneration. It is now been set up as a metered controlled system, as it should have been set up from the beginning. The director of the business telephoned me a month later to inform me that they have had a reduction in the volume of water used since l rectified the water softener setup, and the system is working great now

The water softener was not using any salt and was creating quite a lot of hard water limescale build up in the hot and cold water services. The whole valve was stripped down to see if there was an obvious reason that was causing this problem. It soon became apparent what the problem was, the main brine draw injector was totally blocked with swarf that had come from some new plumbing work that had been carried out. Once the service was completed and the regeneration cycles were all tested the brine was being sucked up out of the salt tank just fine. The last thing to do was to run a resin cleaner through the resin beds to remove any calcium ions that had formed on the surface of the resin. Sometimes when hard water problems occur due to problems with the control valve, it is good practice to rejuvenate the resin with a special cleaner.

Had a call from a business regarding hard water limescale build up in the hot and cold water services. The site maintenance engineer informed me that the salt in the brine tank had not gone down for ages and there was a continuous leak coming from the valve head, also the kitchen canteen dishwashers were scaling up quite a lot inside. I carried out some troubleshooting on the valve to see what the problem might be. I found the problem was a broken brine valve, this also accounted for the leak. The circlip that holds the spring-loaded brine valve together had snapped. After carrying out complete service and replacing all necessary parts, the soft water once again was coming out of the hot and cold water systems
One of the most important things regarding commercial water softener service is having regular quality maintenance service work carried out on them. As soft water systems are installed to remove hardness and limescale build-up and protect the hot and cold water plumbing, it is vital that they are working to their maximum performance. It could be the case that your conditioner is installed as a pre-treatment for a reverse osmosis system. If the commercial water softener is not producing soft water, your membranes in your reverse osmosis system would soon start to become blocked with hard water limescale, and eventually stop working.
